Mahindra Thar Rocks launched at starting price of Rs 12.99 lakh
Off-road SUV with 6 airbags as standard and ADAS as safety features, competes with Force Gurkha
Mahindra & Mahindra has launched Thar Rocks in the Indian market. This is a 5-door version of the company's most popular SUV Thar. It has been provided with off-road technology of the existing 3-door Thar. New features have been added to the car for comfort and safety.
Thar Rocks has features like a new 6-slat grille, all LED lighting setup, 10.25-inch touchscreen, ventilated front seats and auto AC. For safety, the new SUV is equipped with safety features like 6 airbags standard, TPMS and ADAS.
The new Thar Rocks is Rs 1.64 lakh more expensive than the standard Thar.
The base petrol MX1 variant of the car is priced at Rs 12.99 lakh and the base diesel model is priced at Rs 13.99 lakh (both prices ex-showroom, introductory). The new Thar Rocks is Rs 1.64 lakh more expensive than the standard 3 door Thar.
The price of other variants will be announced soon. Bookings for the SUV have been started. Its delivery is expected to begin next month. In the segment, Mahindra Thar Rocks will compete with the 5-door Force Gurkha. Apart from this, it can also be chosen as an alternative to Maruti Jimny.
Exterior: Traditional Boxy Profile in Thar Rocks
The design of Thar Rocks is the same as the 3-door Thar with a traditional boxy profile, but many changes have been made to it. The SUV has LED headlights with C-shaped LED DRL and a new body color 6-slat grille. Some silver elements have also been given on the front bumper. The fog lights and turn indicators are in the same place as the 3-door Thar, but their design has been changed.
Talking about the side profile, here you will see two extra doors and the rear door handle is fitted on the C-pillar. It also has 19-inch dual-tone alloy wheels and a footrest for sitting in the car. Thar Rocks also has a matte roof, which has a panoramic sunroof. The company has also provided a single-pane sunroof in its lower variants.
Its taillights have been given a C-shape and a tailgate mounted spare wheel has also been provided at the rear. The special thing is that a wiper has also been provided on its rear glass, which is not available in the 3 door Thar. The rear window and rear door open separately as before.
Interior: Panoramic sunroof and 10.25-inch digital driver display
The cabin of Thar Rocks is based on a black and white theme. The seats have white leatherette upholstery and the dashboard has black leatherette wrapping with contrast copper stitching. It also has a center armrest for the front passenger. The second row has child ISOFIX anchor seats, foldable center armrest, three-point seatbelts and adjustable headrests for all passengers.
The 5 door Thar has a 10.25-inch digital driver display and a 10.25-inch infotainment system. Apart from this, features like panoramic sunroof, automatic climate control with rear AC vents, ventilated front seats, wireless phone charging and keyless entry with push button start-stop have also been provided.
Safety Features: Advanced Driver Assistance System
For safety, safety features like 6 airbags (standard), 360 degree camera setup, tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) and electronic stability control (ESC) have been provided. Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) has also been provided in Thar Rocks, which has functions like lane keep assist and adaptive cruise control.
