Ukrainian army entered 35km into Russia, captured Sudja
82 villages captured in 10 days, more than 2 lakh people left their homes
President Volodymyr Zelensky has claimed that Ukraine has captured the Russian city of Sudza. Ukrainian troops have penetrated 35 km into Russia.
Zelensky said in a video message on Thursday that the Ukrainian military commandant's center has now opened in Sudja. He said that the Ukrainian army has captured 82 Russian villages in the last 10 days.
Sudza is about 10 km from the Ukrainian border. Its population is about 5,000. Russia has a gas pipeline station here. With the help of this, it supplies gas to European countries.
According to the British website The Guardian, Ukraine 's
occupation of Sudja is a major event. Russia sends about 3% of its gas to European countries via Sudja.
Former Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Fedorov said on a state television talk show that Ukraine's control over Sudzha would harm Europe more than Russia. Gas supplies to Hungary and Slovakia would be cut off. However, he said that there has been no disruption in gas flow so far.
According to Ukrainian military chief Oleksandr Sirsky, Ukraine has captured 1,150 square kilometers of Russian territory. Ukraine launched an attack on Russia's Kursk region on 6 August.
According to the New York Times, this is the first time since the Second World War that any country has intruded into Russia's border. Earlier, Hitler had attacked Russia and occupied such a large area.
More than 2 lakh people left their homes in Russia.
After the Ukrainian attack, Russia declared a state of emergency in Kursk on August 8. After this, Russia imposed an emergency in Belgorod on August 14. However, unlike Kursk, Russia has not accepted the war in Belgorod.
According to Russian news agency TASS, people are being evacuated from some areas of Belgorod. 11,000 people were evacuated from the Yaruga district. The Gulshkovo district adjacent to Kursk has also been evacuated.
According to the BBC, more than 200,000 Russian citizens have been forced to flee their homes after Ukraine’s sudden attack.
Ukraine will create a buffer zone by occupying Russian territory.
Zelensky says that he does not want to occupy Russian territory. He will create a buffer zone by conquering the areas adjacent to Ukraine. There is empty space between two countries in the buffer zone. No one occupies this place.
Zelensky released a video on Thursday showing several Russian soldiers being held captive. He said that Russia has thousands of Ukrainians imprisoned. We will free our people in exchange for Russian soldiers.
Earlier, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Poliansky, while speaking at the United Nations on Wednesday, called Ukraine's attack on Kursk "madness". He said that Russia will soon drive the Ukrainians out of Kursk. Poliansky said that Kursk is a forest area where it will be very difficult for them to maintain control.
Ukraine has occupied more than 1,000 square km of Russian territory. According to CNN, Ukrainian troops attacked the Kursk region of Russia a week ago. Since then, they have occupied about 28 villages here.
About a thousand Ukrainian soldiers equipped with tanks and artillery entered Kursk on August 6. After this, Russia imposed an emergency here on August 8 itself.
